Неудачный/неэффективный выбор
Стремление людей заключить сделку в надежде использовать скрытую информацию в своих собственных интересах, нанося тем самым ущерб другой стороне. Чаще всего с проблемой неэффективного выбора сталкиваются страховые компании. При оценке страхового риска они обычно ориентируются на среднестатистического гражданина, однако страховой полис чаще покупают те люди, которые наверняка воспользуются его выгодами. Таким образом, выплаты по страховому полису могут превышать средний размер страховой премии (см. Premium), и страховая компания может оказаться неспособной покрыть все риски. Увеличение страховой премии не решает проблему, поскольку высокая цена полиса становится непривлекательной для большинства людей. Проблема неэффективного выбора относится также к рынку подержанных автомобилей. Впервые на нее обратил внимание Дж. Акерлоф в 1970 г. Она также называется проблемой «лимона» (lemon problem).
